Petty \Pet"ty\, a. [Compar. {Pettier}; superl. {Pettiest}.] [OE.
petit, F. petit; probably of Celtic origin, and akin to E.

Little; trifling; inconsiderable; also, inferior;
subordinate; as, a petty fault; a petty prince. --Denham.
