Sycophancy \Syc"o*phan*cy\, n. [Cf. L. sycophantia deceit, Gr. ?
   false accusation.]
   The character or characteristic of a sycophant. Hence: 
   (a) False accusation; calumniation; talebearing. [Obs.] --Bp.

   (b) Obsequious flattery; servility.

             The sycophancy of A.Philips had prejudiced Mr.
