   spectrum an appearance, image, specter, fr. specere to look.

   1. Something preternaturally visible; an apparition; a ghost;
      a phantom.

            The ghosts of traitors from the bridge descend, With
            bold fanatic specters to rejoice.     --Dryden.

      (a) The tarsius.
      (b) A stick insect.
