Specious \Spe"cious\, a. [L. speciosusgood-looking, beautiful,
   specious, fr. species look, show, appearance; cf. F.
   sp['e]coeux. See {Species}.]
   1. Presenting a pleasing appearance; pleasing in form or
      look; showy.

            Some [serpents] specious and beautiful to the eye.
