Pneumococcus \Pneu`mo*coc"cus\, n. [See {Pneumo-}, and
   {Coccus}.] (Biol.)
   A form of micrococcus found in the sputum (and elsewhere) of
   persons suffering with pneumonia, and thought to be the cause
   of this disease.
