Delve \Delve\, n. [See {Delve}, v. t., and cf. {Delf} a mine.]
   A place dug; a pit; a ditch; a den; a cave.

         Which to that shady delve him brought at last.

   {Delving}.] [AS. delfan to dig; akin to OS. bidelban to bury,
