Continuation \Con*tin`u*a"tion\, n. [L. continuatio: cf. F.
   connuation.]
   1. That act or state of continuing; the state of being
      continued; uninterrupted extension or succession;
      prolongation; propagation.

            Preventing the continuation of the royal line.
