   fr. Gr. ?, fr. ? to deify; ? from + ? to deify, ? a god.]
   1. The act of elevating a mortal to the rank of, and placing
      him among, ``the gods;'' deification.

   2. Glorification; exaltation. ``The apotheosis of chivalry.''
