Amiable \A"mi*a*ble\, a. [F. amiable, L. amicabilis friendly,
   fr. amicus friend, fr. amare to love. The meaning has been
   influenced by F. aimable, L. amabilis lovable, fr. amare to
   love. Cf. {Amicable}, {Amorous}, {Amability}.]
