Alacrity \A*lac"ri*ty\, n. [L. alacritas, fr. alacer lively,
   eager, prob. akin to Gr. ? to drive, Goth. aljan zeal.]
   A cheerful readiness, willingness, or promptitude; joyous
   activity; briskness; sprightliness; as, the soldiers advanced
   with alacrity to meet the enemy.
