Hairtail \Hair"tail`\, n. (Zo["o]l.)
   Any species of marine fishes of the genus {Trichiurus}; esp.,
   {T. lepterus} of Europe and America. They are long and like a
   band, with a slender, pointed tail. Called also {bladefish}.
