Scorpio \Scor"pi*o\, n.; pl. {Scorpiones}. [L.]
   1. (Zo["o]l.) A scorpion.

   2. (Astron.)
      (a) The eighth sign of the zodiac, which the sun enters
          about the twenty-third day of October, marked thus
          [[scorpio]] in almanacs.
      (b) A constellation of the zodiac containing the bright
          star Antares. It is drawn on the celestial globe in
          the figure of a scorpion.

Scorpiones \Scor`pi*o"nes\, n. pl. [NL.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A division of arachnids comprising the scorpions.
