Scarus \Sca"rus\, n. [L. See {Scar} a kind of fish.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A Mediterranean food fish ({Sparisoma scarus}) of excellent
   quality and highly valued by the Romans; -- called also
   {parrot fish}.
