   2. (Zo["o]l.) A thin, spotted American turbot ({Pleuronectes
      maculatus}) remarkable for its translucency. It is not
      valued as a food fish. Called also {spotted turbot},
      {daylight}, {spotted sand flounder}, and {water flounder}.
