Oryx \O"ryx\, n. [NL., from Gr. ? a kind of gazelle or
   antelope.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A genus of African antelopes which includes the gemsbok, the
   leucoryx, the bisa antelope ({O. beisa}), and the beatrix
   antelope ({O. beatrix}) of Arabia.
