Gladiole \Glad"i*ole\, n. [L. gladiolus a small sword, the sword
   lily, dim. of gladius sword. See {Glaive}.] (Bot.)
   A lilylike plant, of the genus {Gladiolus}; -- called also
   {corn flag}.
