Styptic \Styp"tic\, a. [L. stypticus, Gr. ?, fr. ? to contract.]
Producing contraction; stopping bleeding; having the quality
of restraining hemorrhage when applied to the bleeding part;
astringent. [Written also {stiptic}.]

occidentalis}) closely related to the wild senna.
