{Coreopsis}, especially to {C. tinctoria} of Arkansas.

A genus of herbaceous composite plants, having the achenes
two-horned and remotely resembling some insect; tickseed. {C.
tinctoria}, of the Western plains, the commonest plant of the
genus, has been used in dyeing.
