Batement \Bate"ment\, n. [For {Abatement}. See 2d {Bate}.]
   Abatement; diminution. --Moxon.

   {Batement light} (Arch.), a window or one division of a
      window having vertical sides, but with the sill not
      horizontal, as where it follows the rake of a staircase.
